Indian Railways has taken up a ambitious project to develop and implement the country’s first Hydrogen Train. According to credible sources it will be the longest Hydrogen train in the world and will the first maximum hydrogen powered train in the world.
This state of the art hydrogen train project will be on pilot basis which includes retro fitment of hydrogen fuel cell on the diesel electric unit.
The design and and other technical specifications have been taken up by the Research Design & Standards Organizations ( RDSO ).
Along with the design, there are teams which will focus on building ground infrastructure to refill hydrogen with a integrated hydrogen production storage facility.
All the necessary approvals have been approved by the Petroleum & Explosives Safety Organization. These approvals are very much important for such type of projects.
Conclusion
This ambitious project shows Indian Railways commitment towards achieving alternative energy powered train which would be very eco friendly and economical there by ensuring cleaner and greener future for India’s transportation sector.
